Pawsport

China travel app for iPhone

Travel China without the guesswork.

Google Maps is half-blind in mainland China. Pawsport gives every stop its Chinese name and address for the taxi driver, puts each pin where the place really is, and catches the sight that's shut on the day you planned it.

The taxi card: 请带我去, 豫园, and its address in Chinese, full screen

01 — Taxis

Show the driver. Get there.

Tap a stop and turn the phone round: its name and address fill the screen in Chinese, under 请带我去, "please take me to". No spelling out pinyin, no pointing at a map the driver can't read.

  • Chinese names and addresses on every stop
  • Copy them in a tap, for a ride app or a message

02 — Maps

Pins where the place really is.

Maps in mainland China use a shifted grid, so a place from Google can land a street or two away. Pawsport corrects every pin, places small shops at their building from the Chinese address, and takes an Amap link as the exact spot.

  • Paste an Amap link: the stop takes that place
  • Metro directions open in Amap
Trip ready: the Forbidden City is shut on Mondays, and its tickets go on sale 7 days ahead with your passport number

03 — Closing days

The Forbidden City is shut on Mondays.

Many of China's big sights close one day a week, and plenty need a ticket booked days ahead with your passport. Pawsport knows which, flags a stop planned on its closing day, and reminds you when tickets go on sale.

Trip ready for China: 12 things before Shanghai, from your passport to train tickets

04 — Before you go

Ready for China, item by item.

Trip ready walks you through what China needs before you land: paying by phone, data that works, the apps locals use, your passport for tickets, and train tickets the day they open.

Asking Pawsport for soup dumplings near Yu Garden, and it adds one to the plan

05 — Ask

Ask where the locals go.

Ask for soup dumplings near Yu Garden or a quiet teahouse in Hangzhou. In China, Pawsport looks where people there look, Dianping, Xiaohongshu and Amap, then checks the place is open and adds it when you say so.

A plan from an AI assistant in Pawsport: 13 of 14 places found, ready to make into a trip

06 — Bring your plan

Planned it already? Bring it in.

Add your spreadsheet or ask ChatGPT or Claude to put the trip in Pawsport. Every row comes in, placed from its Chinese address or Amap link, with its Chinese name kept for the driver. Here's how.

Questions

China, answered.

More in Support.

Why are map pins wrong in China?

Maps in mainland China use a shifted coordinate system, so places from Google can land hundreds of metres from where they really are. Pawsport corrects every one before it goes on your map.

Can I paste an Amap link?

Yes. Paste an Amap share link into a stop and Pawsport takes that exact place, with its Chinese name and address.

What does the taxi card show?

The place's name and full address in Chinese, large enough to read across a taxi, under 请带我去 (please take me to).

What about Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan?

Their maps aren't shifted, so Pawsport leaves their pins as they are.

Can I bring a plan from ChatGPT, Claude or a spreadsheet?

Yes. Pawsport places each stop from its Chinese address down to the door number, or from an Amap link, and keeps every row of your sheet. Here's how.
